Korketrekkeren

‍ ‍

When there is snow on the hills, you'll find there's a lot of people that enjoy going sledding. Especially at "Korketrekkeren" near Frognerseteren. Korketrekkeren is a premier toboggan run located in Oslo. The run spans approximately 2,700 meters in length, boasting an exhilarating vertical drop of 255 meters.

About Korketrekkeren

Korketrekkeren winds its way from Frognerseteren to Midtstuen. A continuous descent down the run takes roughly 8 to 10 minutes. Upon reaching Midtstuen, you can easily board the metro (T-bane) back up to Frognerseteren for another run.

A 2,700 metres long sledding hill that takes nearly 10 minutes from start to finish, and best of all, when you're at the end you can just take the metro to the top again.

Access to Korketrekkeren is complimentary when using your own sled. For your safety, the use of a helmet is highly recommended.

Please note that the run is weather-dependent and only open when snow conditions permit.

Sled Rentals

Premium sleds and toboggans are available for hire from:

Restrooms

Public facilities are located at the Akeforeningen clubhouse at the top of the run, situated between the Frognerseteren restaurant and Skistua.

How to get there

By Public Transport (Highly Recommended)

Taking the metro (T-bane) is by far the easiest and most popular way to experience Korketrekkeren. Because the run ends at a different location than it starts, using public transit allows you to seamlessly loop the ride without having to walk back up to a parked car.

  • How to get there: Take Metro Line 1 (towards Frognerseteren) from any central station in downtown Oslo (such as Jernbanetorget, Nationaltheatret, or Majorstuen).

  • Where to get off: Ride the metro all the way to the end of the line, Frognerseteren Station. The journey takes about 30 to 35 minutes from the city center.

  • Finding the start: Once you exit the train, the start of the toboggan run and the sled rental clubhouses are just a 5-minute walk downhill, clearly marked by signs.

  • Doing another lap: The run finishes right outside Midtstuen Station. From there, you simply hop back onto Metro Line 1 with your sled and ride it 13–16 minutes back up to Frognerseteren to go again!

  • Ticket Tip: A standard single ticket or 24-hour ticket from Ruter (Zone 1) covers both the ride up and the loop trips.

By Car

Driving is possible, but keep in mind that parking can be highly competitive during peak winter weekends, and you will have to take the metro back up to your car at the end of your run.

  • Driving Route: From central Oslo, follow the signs toward Holmenkollen. Take Rv150 (Ring 3), exit onto Slemdalsveien, and follow Holmenkollveien all the way up the mountain past the ski jump until you reach Frognerseteren. The drive takes roughly 20 to 25 minutes depending on traffic and winter road conditions.

  • Parking: There is a free public parking lot near Frognerseteren Station and the Frognerseteren Restaurant, though it fills up very quickly on snowy days.

  • The Logistical Catch: When you finish sledding, you will end up down at Midtstuen Station. You will need to leave your sleds with someone or carry them onto Metro Line 1 at Midtstuen to ride back up to the Frognerseteren parking lot to retrieve your vehicle.
