About us
Thanks for your interest in our company and our travel guides. Please find below some more information about who we are and what we are trying to achieve here at OSLO.
OSLO is Oslo’s new independent online visitor and travel guide.
We highlight what to see, do, explore, and experience in Norway’s capital — with a broader perspective, a sharper editorial eye, and a commitment to quality, clarity, and independence.
We believe a city like Oslo deserves thoughtful, well-curated visitor information that goes beyond the obvious. Our ambition is to present the city in all its richness: from iconic landmarks and cultural institutions to neighbourhood gems, outdoor experiences, dining, and city life.
To avoid any confusion over the names: OSLO is the name of the website and the service. oslo.guide is OSLO’s web address and domain name.
OSLO is an independent service and not an official public tourism service with municipal or state financial or technical support.
-
Our main purpose is to help people discover what to see and do in Norway’s capital — from major attractions and museums to local experiences, outdoor life, culture, events, neighbourhoods, dining, and everyday city life.
When people ask whether Oslo really needs another travel and tourism website, our answer is simple: a city like Oslo can never have too many good ambassadors. We believe there is always room for a guide that presents the city with breadth, clarity, independence, and genuine enthusiasm.
We also believe there is room for improvement in how Oslo has been presented to visitors so far. In many cases, tourist information can feel limited, and not all attractions, experiences, and activities are given equal visibility. Some parts of the city receive plenty of attention, while others are less prominently featured. OSLO wants to offer a broader, more balanced perspective.

Oslo - what is it like? Our aim is to show you exactly what Oslo is like. We do this through photographs, videos and articles.
Visit Scandinavia has created the OSLO website to provide information about Oslo as an interesting travel destination as well as provide information about Oslo and Norwegian travel companies’ products.
We do this work by producing inspiring content that drives action across all platforms: Website content, photos and videos, social media posts, e-newsletters and print publications are the primary ways we inspire potential visitors. This engaging, timely content is designed to grab consumers’ attention and start them on their travel-planning journey. In many cases, this content leads people to, or deeper within, oslo.guide
In addition, oslo.guide provides information for international travel trade, convention organizers and media professionals.
-
OSLO is a free and independent platform dedicated to showcasing the full range of what Oslo has to offer: attractions, landmarks, experiences, travel information, tourist information, outdoor activities, urban life, and cultural life. In parts of the travel industry, the most visible information is often shaped by commercial partnerships and the understandable desire of partners to secure prominent exposure. There is nothing wrong with that — but our ambition is different. We want to present a wider selection of options, so that our users can make their own informed choices about what to visit, where to eat, what to do, where to stay, and which experiences best suit their interests, without being steered too strongly in one direction.
We hope you find both inspiration and practical value in using Oslo.guide. If you prefer in-person assistance, or if you would like help with services such as the Oslo Pass, you can visit the official Oslo Visitor Centre in Østbanehallen next to Oslo Central Station.
For the sake of clarity, we would also like to note that Oslo.guide is a fully independent visitor and tourist information website for Oslo. It is not an official tourism service operated by the municipality, county, or the Norwegian state.

We are a fully independent travel and tourism publisher. Our coverage of destinations, attractions, businesses and tourism-related operators is based on our own editorial judgement, research and visits. When we feature a place or a business, it is normally because we have experienced it ourselves — without any assignment, commission or instruction from the operator being covered.
There is no hidden advertising or undisclosed promotional profiling in our editorial articles. The website is editorially independent, free from external instruction, and not produced on behalf of any commercial or public party. Our writers and photographers visit commercial businesses and tourism operators unannounced, and our coverage is based on our own observations, experiences and editorial assessments.
As a reader, you can trust that any content not clearly marked as “Sponsored Content” or “Advertising” is not the result of a paid collaboration, agreed publication, commercial influence or any other form of instruction from the featured operator.
