How to get to Stortorvet
Arriving from Oslo Airport (Gardermoen)
For a premium and seamless arrival, the high-speed train is your finest option.
The Flytoget Airport Express: Board the Flytoget Train directly from the airport terminal to Oslo Central Station (Oslo S). The journey takes a mere 19 minutes, with departures every 10 or 20 minutes.
The On-Foot Stroll: From Oslo S, Stortorvet is a delightful 7-minute walk. Simply exit the station toward Jernbanetorget, walk up the pedestrian-friendly Karl Johans gate, and take a right at Kirkegata.
Via Oslo's Public Transit (Ruter)
Stortorvet serves as a key intersection for Oslo's efficient tram network, making it highly accessible from anywhere in the city.
By Tram: Lines 11, 12, and 19 stop directly at the Stortorvet tram stop. Alighting here places you right in the center of the square, beautifully framed by the Oslo Cathedral.
By Subway (T-bane): Take any metro line to Stortinget Station. Use the Egertorget exit, and walk just two blocks east down Karl Johans gate before turning left toward the square.
Private Transport & Taxi
If you prefer the comfort of a private vehicle, look for designated taxi ranks outside Oslo S or major hotels. Alternatively, you can seamlessly arrange a ride using premium local mobility apps like Uber Oslo or Bolt.
Note for drivers: The area immediately surrounding Stortorvet is heavily pedestrianized with highly restricted vehicle access. If you are arriving by private car, it is best to aim for nearby parking facilities such as the Sentrum P-hus garage and enjoy a brief walk to the square.
