Holocaust Center

The HL-senteret, the Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies, gives Bygdøy one of its most important layers. Based at Villa Grande on Huk avenue, the centre focuses on the Holocaust, other genocides, antisemitism, racism, extremism and minority issues. The building itself is part of the story: during the Second World War, Vidkun Quisling lived here and renamed it Gimle. A visit adds gravity and historical depth to a day that might otherwise be dominated by beaches and museum highlights.
